Anya has never fit in. She's always picked on at school and
doesn't have cool enough clothes to at least be respected.
Life at home isn't very cheery, either. Her father is an
alcoholic, and her sister is the biggest brat in the world.
She only has one friend, Patrick, but that's all about to
change. The newest member of the popular crowd, Maria, takes
a liking to Anya and believes she can become popular as
well. But things start to fall apart before they've even
started. Patrick has pulled away from Anya because of her
decision, the popular girls don't like her, and now she and
Maria are getting mixed with people that could possibly
threaten their lives. What will Anya do? She didn't want
this. Is this the price to pay to be like Maria?
This is a
pure coming-of-age story. Anya is such a relatable
character. Shes simply an innocent girl wanting to belong
to a group. Shes done nothing to deserve the situation she
is in. As for Maria, shes a strong-willed character so many
readers will love. Along with that, the settings were really
descriptive, and very well thought out. One thing I didnt
really like was the ending. It felt like there were
unnecessary holes that needed to be filled. Other than that,
it was a very enjoyable book.
