Flamingnet Student Book Reviewer  CDenn
Lorelei is the average teenage girl, living in a small town with her grandparents. Her parents strange disappearance 10 years ago was simply put down as an unusual accident. But when a strange boy starts following her, she starts to wonder if there is something more going on. She quickly realizes that Cameron, her follower, is not a normal teenage boy, and the handsome Jared Kovach confirms her suspicions when he appears at her school. Before long, odd things start happening around Lorelei, and everything seems to be happening because of the two boys. Lorelei is intrigued when she finds out that Cameron and Jared may not be human, and that they may have something to do with her parents disappearance. But Lorelei also knows that death and danger lay before her, and she will have to hurtle those obstacles before she can uncover any secrets surrounding her heart.

I did not like the book Death and the Girl Next Door. It was too generic; the plot is almost identical to any book you might find on a teen paranormal romance shelf. Darynda Jones tried to make her book exciting and enticing to teens, but instead, her plot was dull, her characters were empty headed, and her style of writing was most definitely not top-notch. Throughout the entire book, it seems like Ms. Jones tries to add humor and excitement. But the final product is flat, dull, and has very little character. This book was mediocre in every way, so unless you are content to settle with an underwhelming book, I would not recommend Death and the Girl Next Door.
