Flamingnet Student Review
When trouble maker Katie McCabe gets caught committing arson, her beloved father, the local sheriff, whisks her off to her Uncle Charlie's. Sarah, Katie's cousin, intends to set her straight. On Katie's second day at the farm, she meets Harvey Junior, her soon-to-be archenemy. Despite Katie's efforts to get along, she ends up hitting Harvey! Later on, she starts to make friends like Tom Pike and his buddies. Tom is the number one football player at school. Katie doesn't realize that life at Uncle Charlie's isn't going to be simple. Her new life contains rattlesnakes, nasty revenge, more archenemies, tears, and mud - lots and lots of mud! I loved Misfit McCabe! The descriptions were amazing. I was glued to Misfit McCabe like a fly stuck to fly tape. I completely underestimated this book because I figured it would be boring. It turned out to be a very, very exciting book. Dont underestimate the book's cover. Misfit McCabe is a difficult book to read, so I don't think it should be for 9-12 year olds, it should be labeled for young adults. This is a great book. Gardner-Griffie has outdone herself. There are a few situations with underage drinking and smoking: also some frightening situations, and language. Flamingnet Student Review
The Temptress Four is about four girls named Fiona, Killian, Alma and Yoli. The girls have just graduated from high school, and they decide to celebrate by going on a cruise. The night before the cruise, the girls go to a fortune teller who predicts that there will be trouble during the trip and that one of them may not return. The fortune teller's comment makes the girls think about whether they should still go on the cruise. After a lot of debate, the girls decide to go. They will soon learn whether the fortune teller is correct.

The Temptress Four was one of the best books I have ever read! Unlike most books I have read, this book kept me on my toes. When one problem gets solved, there is another problem waiting. I also loved how the author made the book unpredictable. That made me want to read the book even more. I'd highly recommend this book!

ABOUT GABY TRIANA
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Gaby Triana unknowingly began her writing career in the 3rd grade when she wrote her 3-page novel, Skeeter Creek, a story about a girl who loved fishing during the lazy days of a mosquito- filled summer. It had no plot, but it sounded like Mark Twain and won her an A+++++ from her teacher anyway. It was then she had the brief twinkling of an idea that she might be a writer in the future, but being a 3rd grader, she naturally thought becoming a veterinarian would be "much neater" because she'd be able to "work with cats and stuff."

Never one to listen to her instincts, Gaby dabbled in many other activities throughout her schooling-softball, violin, dance, color guard, even cake decorating, a talent which still persists today. Throughout all this, she still wrote, but only for fun and 1st prize fair ribbons, never with any serious publishing intent. Upon graduating from high school, she further ignored her calling and studied at Florida State University, diving headfirst into a career in teaching, graduating with both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Elementary Education. She spent the next seven years teaching 3rd and 4th grade in Miami, earning Teacher of the Year, and writing stories for her students who asked her to read them over and over, all the while STILL never thinking they'd amass to anything.

It wasn't until the birth of her first son, Michael, during those long, lonely days of speaking to a toddler for hours at a time that Gaby thought it was time to share her stories with people taller than 35 inches. She joined a critique group of actual adults that specialized in children's books, and during that time, wrote her first published novel for young adults, Backstage Pass, a story about a rock star's 16-year-old daughter caught between her real life of on-road living, catered meals, and plenty of global publicity and her secret life of nothingness and normality at a public high school in Coconut Grove. Backstage Pass was published by HarperCollins, earned an IRA Teen Choice Award in 2006, and plenty of praise from Booklist, School Library Journal, and Publisher's Weekly. Always a late bloomer, Gaby finally realized what her career should have been from the very beginning.

Her follow-up teen novel, Cubanita, about a Cuban- American girl and her last summer at home before leaving for college, earned acclaim from School Library Journal, Booklist, and Kliatt, as well as its place on the YALSA/ALA Popular Paperbacks list for 2008. Her upcoming novel, The Temptress Four, about four best friends going on a graduation cruise together will be out in May, 2008, followed up by Motor Girl in 2009. Today, Gaby has realized her full potential as an author, visiting schools, public speaking, and conducting critiques and workshops at SCBWI conferences. She enjoys making special occasion cakes (www.theloveofcake.com), going to Disney World, driving fast cars, kickboxing, and spending time with her husband, Chris, stepdaughter, Devin, and sons, Michael, Noah, and Murphy. She is currently at work on her first supernatural novel for teens- Wake the Hollow. Her literary agent is Steven Chudney at The Chudney Agency in NY.

by Jimmy Buffett (Little, Brown)

Best-selling writer Jimmy Buffett weaves an irresistible new tale---filled with colorful characters, wry humor, and the pursuit of a very clever pig. When Southern belle Ellie McBride moves her twins from Vertigo, Tennessee to New York City, they wouldn't dream of leaving behind the family pig Rumpy. But the posh hotel where Ellie has found work (and living space) has "No Pets" writ large on its portal. So hiding Rumpy from the hotel staff---especially the ultra-carnivorous hotel chef, who would like nothing better than to transform their pet into pork roast---becomes imperative.

Devil May Care Devil May Care

by Sebastian Faulks (Doubleday)

Devil May Care is a masterful continuation of the James Bond legacyan electrifying new chapter in the life of the most iconic spy of literature and film, written to celebrate the centenary of Ian Flemings birth on May 28, 1908. An Algerian drug runner is savagely executed in the desolate outskirts of Paris. This seemingly isolated event leads to the recall of Agent 007 from his sabbatical in Rome and his return to the world of intrigue and danger where he is most at home. The head of MI6, M, assigns him to shadow the mysterious Dr. Julius Gorner, a power-crazed pharmaceutical magnate, whose wealth is exceeded only by his greed. Gorner has lately taken a disquieting interest in opiate derivatives, both legal and illegal, and this urgently bears looking into. Bond finds a willing accomplice in the shape of a glamorous Parisian named Scarlett Papava. He will need her help in a life-and-death struggle with his most dangerous adversary yet, as a chain of events threaten to lead to global catastrophe. A British airliner goes missing over Iraq. The thunder of a coming war echoes in the Middle East. And a tide of lethal narcotics threatens to engulf a Great Britain in the throes of the social upheavals of the late sixties. Picking up where Fleming left off, Sebastian Faulks takes Bond back to the height of the Cold War in a story of almost unbearable pace and tension. Devil May Care not only captures the very essence of Flemings original novels but also shows Bond facing dangers with a powerful relevance to our own times.

Flamingnet Student Review
The book Devil May Care is a continuation of the various dangerous adventures of the notable character James Bond. Bond is summoned from his sabbatical in order to investigate Dr. Julius Gorner, a powerful figure that seems to have an interest in selling drugs, of both the legal and illegal kind. He is helped on his adventures by Scarlett Papava, who is, supposedly, a banker. James Bond struggles to uncover Gorner's operations as strange things occur, such as a missing British airliner and heroin addicts on the rise in Britain. Bond travels to the Middle East and has quite a few surprises. There is a twist at the end concerning Scarlett Papava.

The book Devil May Care has a few significant flaws. First of all, some scenes have way too much detail. Some parts of the book are absolutely gory. There did not have to be that much detail. Also, it is a little boring in some places. It seems that Bond is always eating, talking, traveling, or thinking about Scarlett. The writing is not difficult to follow, but it is not too easy either. I don't think I'll ever read this book again; it was pretty disappointing. Even without the disgusting scenes, this book is not at all spectacular. However, Sebastian Faulks did make it seem realistic, just too realistic in some places. The characters seemed real, but I, for one, would not like to meet them.
